The PinkPrint Album Review

Washington, D.C. - Born Onika Tanya Miraj on December 8, 1982, famed hip-hop artist Nicki Minaj has done it again. She recently released her newest album "The Pinkprint" which was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 58th Grammy Awards in 2016, Billboards Music Award for Top Rap Album in 2015, and BET Hip Hop Award for Best Album of the Year in 2015.

Nicki was born in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago, and moved with her family to Queens, New York, when she was just 5 years old. Minaj endured some early life struggles, but said these hard times have fueled her to rise above the life her parents only knew.

The Pinkprint was dropped on December 12, 2014. It consists of 22 tracks and has won the America Music Award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album. I personally love this album by Nicki. I feel as though she has really settled down from her alter ego's such as Roman, Martha, Etc, and has found her inner self. All of her albums have meaning but this one in particular sets the tone for a New Nicki. Her lyrics are really heart felt and the life she brings to the songs have the most meaning.

Nicki states in the song All Things Go "I want 'Caiah to go to college, just to say "We did it!" My child with Aaron, would've been sixteen any minute. So in some ways I feel like 'Caiah is the both of them. It's like he's 'Caiah's little angel, looking over him." She expressed the way she felt about the loss of her child at the age of 15 and how she can look back on it now as if he's her little brother's guardian angel. This was a really heart felt song emphasizing a change within herself.

Nicki confessed to every thing that might have stopped her or put her on pause from making the next move. A female rapper all about her money and family ties the last thing she needed was a heartbreak to set her back right? In the song I Lied she said "Even though I said I didn't need you I lied, I lied. To keep you from breaking my heart, ooh." She felt as though letting the new and improved her come out would really allow her to connect with her fans more. She refused to let certain people take advantage of her again.

Nicki Minaj did a superb job with this album. She really opened up to her emotions on this one.  I suggest if you haven't listen to this album to listen and enjoy the life of Onika Tanya Miraj.
